Things you should look for in your nail salon

When it comes to getting your nails done, it shouldn’t only be about the glitter and glam. Receiving a nail treatment in the wrong nail parlor can lead to a range of skin infection that might put your health at a risk.

You should consider a couple of these before your next manicure & pedicure appointment:

Find the Info :

Make sure that your nail salon is certified. Municipal laws and regulations have strict laws to regulate spas to ensure proper hygiene and sanitary instructions to avoid infection. The laws also ensure that the nail technicians are tested annually for contagious disease such as Hepatitis.

Be smart:

Make sure to find out how your nail parlor disinfects their tools.

Don't be afraid to ask, "Can you show me how you disinfect your tools? Or how do you clean after each treatment? “

Nail parlors should be use liquid disinfection (Alcohol) during the procedure and autoclave (heat sterilization) for metal tools after each treatment. These are both acceptable and what should be used.

Keep an Open eye:

Keep an eye for the cleanliness and neatness of the place. Floors, waiting area, bathrooms and treatment area should always be spotless clean.

Watch out also for the nail technicians’ cleaning habits, for example: washing hands before and after each client is one of the most basic ways to minimize transmission of germs. A fresh soap bowl, working area and towels are mandatory.

Technicians must have a clean uniform, face masks and with hair tied back away from the face at all times.

Choose wisely:

Nail salons should always use good quality nail polish brands. Make sure that you salon doesn’t dilute nail polish that have become clumpy from old age or from too much air exposure. This action compromises the quality of the polish, which will make the formula chip easier once on your nails.
