Know your ABC's
Vitamin Checklist:
It has been established that certain vitamins are very beneficial to your skin. They target several skin issues like hydration, anti-aging and skin texture.
We receive our supply of vitamins from eating a balanced diet or food supplements, however due to surrounding conditions our body only delivers a percentage for the skin regardless of how much we ingest. Therefore we should compensate by applying topical cream or serum to deliver maximum benefits to the skin.
Vitamin A:
Also known as Retinol, topical vitamin A is an all around anti-aging skin solution due to the fact that it promotes skin growth allowing it to target problems like wrinkles, dark spots & acne scars.
Vitamin A cream is better used under physician supervision as a night cream, sunscreen and hydrating cream is a must during treatment.
Vitamin B complex:
This is your skin multi-tasker with numerous benefits.
Creams containing B complex help give skin an almost instant healthy glow while hydrating cells and increasing overall tone. It allows your skin to retain moisture to look younger. B complex also has anti-inflammatory properties to soothe dry, irritated skin. In higher concentrations it can also work as a lightening agent to even out blotchy skin tone and reduce wrinkles.
Vitamin C:
AKA Ascorbic Acid is necessary for collagen production and maintenance; in addition it has a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals in the skin that are the main cause of wrinkles, sagging and other aging signs.
Double check the ingredients for 10% or higher concentrations of stabilized Vitamin C for results.
Apply sunscreen prior to use during day time, during summer time night time application is preferable.
Vitamin E:
Vitamin E combats dryness by helping skin retain its natural moisturizers. Also, Vitamin E has the ability to neutralize damaging free radicals that can delay scar healing. It is recommended to apply before and after sun exposure.
Vitamin K:
Vitamin K is essential in aiding the body’s process of blood clotting, which helps the body heal wounds & bruises.
Vitamin K can be found in many different topical creams for the skin, and it can help treat a variety of skin conditions, like fragile capillaries on your face (spider veins), scars, dark spots, stubborn circles under your eyes and stretch marks.
Doctors frequently use creams that contain vitamin K on patients who have just undergone surgery to help reduce swelling and bruising.
