This Face "Workout" ;Tone your face with a massage

It’s hailed as a non-invasive alternative to Botox and surgery, with Meghan Markle reportedly a huge fan. But do anti-ageing facial exercises really work? Does it do what it promise?

Let’s start with a brief about our face muscular structure:

Our face contains around 50 different muscles that control our jaw movement and facial expressions, however, a lot of these facial muscles are rarely used.

What should you expect?

By carrying out regular facial exercises, you enhance the circulation of blood to the different areas of the face, in addition to

-          replenish oxygen and nourishment supply

-         stimulate facial muscles and restore skin's elasticity

-          kick-start lymphatic drainage

-          Promote collagen production.

Resulting in a clear, healthy complexion with a beautiful glow which has fewer toxins and has a better ability to absorb moisture.

With and against, both answers are valid

Believe it or not multiple studies have been performed to test facial massages effectiveness.

A 2018 study conducted at Northwestern University showed that 20 weeks of daily facial exercise did indeed yield measurably firmer skin, and fuller upper and lower cheeks. Sixteen women aged between 40 and 65 participated in a daily 30 minutes facial massage. Dermatologists gauged a slight but significant increase in cheek fullness which can be considered as a cautiously optimistic indication that facial massage is beneficial to facial exercise provided that you practice it regularly.

On the other hand some think it’s not a good idea if you get regular cosmetic injectable, like Botox, which may cause Botox not to last as ucg as it suppose to.

Some also claim that repeated muscular contraction to forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet ma cause these lines to become more prominent and deeper over time.  And for others, facial exercises could make signs of aging more noticeable.

Our Verdict

Depending on the condition of your skin, your age, skin care goals and budget, regular facial treatments that incorporate any form of muscle stimulation through massage—work in combination with daily skin care to improve the overall appearance of your skin.

Everything in moderation will benefit you and everything in excess will not.
