- Use Strengthener between Polishes
Healthy nails hold polish longer. A strengthening product can help repair nail damage to keep them from peeling or breaking.
- Minimize Soaking Time
Soaking your nails before a manicure will cause your nails to expand. When they dry and shrink, your polish will crack. Ask your manicurist to minimize soaking time and use softening solution to soften the cuticle.
- Use 2-3 Thin Coats
Thicker coats of polish don't dry with as much strength as thin ones. Proper application of nail polish in thin strokes that start from bottom top, coats should be smooth with full coverage. Try to wait for a minute between coats.
- Hydrate Often
Dry nails will cause your nail polish to chip faster, keep your nails hydrated regularly. Use a hydrating bas or gel.
- Avoid getting any polish on your cuticles which lifts the polish from the nail and leads to chipping.
- Filing
This is a very common mistake. When you are shaping your nails, don’t file back and forth. It can make your tips jagged and more likely to break. File only in one direction.
- Don’t Forget to Buff Your Nails
When you don't buff your nails before applying nail polish, the natural oils in your nails can build up and prevent nail polish from settling onto your nails. Buffing nails also makes nails look more youthful, and it gets rid of ridges
- Don't Skip the Edges of your Nails
Run the base coat, paint, and topcoat around the edge to ensure your entire nail is sealed.
- Dry Nails with Cool Air
Hot air keeps the polish from drying. A smart tip is dipping your fingertips in ice water for a minute or two also aids drying.
- Hand Sanitizers
